Constructed of silver, the obverse with a raised and finely detailed rightward facing profile of Elector Wilhelm II of Hesse Kassel, circumscribed by name and title, the reverse with a central inscription of DEM VERDIENST (FOR MERIT), within a laurel wreath, the edge marked ACADEMIE DER BILDENEN KUNSTE (ACADEMY OF VISUAL ARTS), the obverse marked K for an unconfirmed maker, measuring 37. 32 mm in diameter, weighing 21. 7
