This hand painted cloth flag is marked with battle quotes such as "Banzai", and "Good Luck for Bravery". At the top over the "Sun" are the two characters (un or luck) and (Bu or war martial), so "Good luck in Battle". To the far right is also a phrase in Katakana, the Japanese phonetic alphabet used for foreign words: , which is read RAN OOBAA, or "Run Over", basically an
