This is a very interesting variation of the Japanese Pre WWII field telephone, housed in a relatively smaller leather case with a nickel finished handset and spare mouthpiece with leather straps to attach to the head. There is also a morse code signal device in the adjacent compartment. The set is mostly devoid of markings except when you remove the large box in the one compartment, which reveals a data plate to the
