The handle extends through a hole in the flat, semi circular wooden base of the scoop like a plug, with its terminus visible on the interior of the scoop. Meanwhile, the beautifully shaped tin of the scoop wraps around the sides of the base, overlapping the the front and joined with a nail. Nothing extraneous, just a
